A pair of Western Spindalis have now succesfully fledged three young in Everglades National Park. The last young fledged on September 1, 2009. This is the first U.S. record of Western Spindalis nesting as far as we know. This is a really exciting find, the park did not want the nest location made public until the birds fledged.
Tricia did an excellent job of taking notes during the time the birds were nesting!
