Moving on to Royal Palm we acquired some Coleman bug spray to calm our urges to beat the little bugs to death. The mahogany trees were alive with warblers: black and white, prairie, some pine, and a couple of vultures. We were the only patrons on the Anhinga Trail...for good reason. Only one cardinal was seen, a few palm warblers and again millions of mosquitos. Red-shouldered hawks were bountiful and all were having great success hunting anoles, snakes, and frogs. The mowing crews along the rodside helped out by providing chopped snakes.
