Yesterday in the evening Toe called to tell me he had an Acadian Flycatcher at Dump Marsh near the corner of the first road past the fenced in area heading towards the large ponds along the main canal. The corner with the large dead tree that hawks like as a perch on.

I couldn't go yesterday so I went this morning, but a bit late. I quickly saw and heard the Acadian, then as I was walking back to the van I saw another empid with no eye-ring, then another that looked like it had a bit of an eye-ring. Both were obviously traillii flycatchers. Then I saw the one without the eye-ring again fly into a bush just 10-15 feet away but couldn't see it. Then it started calling whit, whit, whit.... It called maybe 8-9 times. I did also hear what I believe was the Alder calling a couple of times. Unfortunately I had nothing with me to record the call and I had to go.

I returned later around 5:30pm and found Toe and Brian looking for the birds. They had already heard both the Acadian and the Willow. I stayed about an hour with my video camera to record the call, but only heard them call a few times and by the time I could start the recording they stopped.

Anyway, there appears to be Acadian, Willow and Alder all at the same spot. It's well worth the attempt to see and hear these birds. If you go to see for yourself take something to record the calls a video doesn't have to be great just record the call for the record. Larry.... oh, Larry.....

No Photos, they wouldn't stay still!
