The field next to 217th on the south side of 9336 where Brian found the Buff-breasted had no birds this afternoon. I went to the next field to the west. I drove down the dirt road marked by a red post next to 9336 and found plenty of Killdeer, some Least Sandpipers, a Spotted, a Pectoral, and a few Black-bellied Plovers. As I pulled up to the cistern out in the field, rain started, so I had to stay in the car. As I got close to the cistern, a group of 3 Killdeer and one sandpiper slightly smaller than the Killdeer. It looked the right size and color for the Buff-breasted, but I was in the car with a light rain outside so I can't be sure. It flew towards the northeast. I later went to the north side of 9336 and found only one Solitary at the small puddle. In the field to the east of the tower, between 217th and 212 Ave. on the south side, I found 6 Upland Sandpipers.
A stop at Cutler Wetlands added both Yellowlegs, Black-necked Stilt, and Short-billed Dowitcher, but shorebird number here are still pathetically low.
