I am completely new to birding, today being just my second outing at the wetlands site on Sheridan Street.I had been there a couple of times before to find wildlife in general. After about 45 minutes, and almost having left, I noticed the other birdwatchers excitement and returned. There was the Masked Duck! How exciting for my family! My daughter got to see it, too! What a blessing. We also saw all the usual.. moorhens, purple gallinules, coots, great egrets. But we also saw a yellow-crowned night heron, which someone mentioned is not real common there. It was right by the entrance and we were able to get a real close look. Also, a little blue heron was there. I think I am going to really enjoy birding!!!
