Hi! It seems like my yard has turned into a Cowbird pasture! Yesterday, there were five bronzed and a Shiney at the same feeder. It made a interesting comparison. The eyes of the the Bronzed ones looked like blood. Last week I believe I saw a male Red-winged Blackbird feeding an immature Bronzed Cowbird. It was standing on the metal bars outside my sliding glass door fluttering and begging for food. The Red-winged obliged by taking the seeds from the feeder to the baby. I am always hearing their unusual metallic call coming from my Bouganvilla tree in the front yard. They are quite bold and will stand on the sidewalk preening. I guess they have laid their eggs in various nests throughout the neighborhood. The Shiney one is a more slender bird with its dark eyes and purple-black sheen. Last year it came every day to my feeder for three weeks straight. This year last week was my first sighting. Yesterday, it was at my feeder on and off all day. No warblers to be seen in my yard yet as reported by others!
