At least Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden here in Miami appears to be doing well. Miami Herald writer Georgia Tasker got laid off and FTBG hired her right away. I think grants, endowments, and a strong membership & volunteer base has kept them going.
Here's hoping Marie Selby pulls through this recession, or whatever the talking heads are calling it.
