There have been quite a few flamingos (8-10?) in Mud Lake, near the entrance to Bear Lake in Everglades National Park. There are two ways to access this area by canoe or kayak:

1) Launch at Coot Bay Pond and enter Mud Lake via the creek on the south side of Coot Bay.

2) Launch at the Bear Lake Canoe Trail and paddle to Bear Lake, then bear right to the creek that accesses Mud Lake. The Bear Lake Canoe Trail is accessed off of the dirt road that borders Buttonwood Canal on the west. Drive north to its terminus, turn left, and drive to the trail head. You can offload your gear there and then return your vehicle to the parking area. The trail has been cleared by volunteers recently.

Bring plenty of bug spray, plus bring a big rock to throw through the mosquitoes so you can look at the flamingos through the hole. I'm only partially kidding!
