As Roger posted earlier in the week the county budget is out for the 2009/2010 year and included in the report is the closure of some of the best nature oriented parks in Miami Dade. The only hope of keeping any of these nature centers open and staffed will be to contact the county commissioners before Monday, July 20. If you would like to help, go to www.miamidade.gov, click on County Commissioners, and either phone them, fax them, or email them with your concerns.
These parks are home to programs that focus on the environment and all it has to offer. Now more than ever our children need such programs to teach them about the outdoors and keep them away from trouble. Other programs such as cultural programs across the county will be cut as well; these programs are instrumental in the future of the inner city kids. Please take a small portion of your time today to send out an email or call the Mayor and county commissioners.
