I went by Cutler Wetland and surrounding areas yesterday and found water levels had dropped a bit and there were more waders than I've seen in a long time, about 30 Mottled Ducks (15-20 young), a couple of nesting Killdeer and 2 Ruddy Turnstone in the area where the water level was low. So no migrating shorebirds yet but I'm ready and I'm hoping Cutler Wetland is ready.
If the rain patters continue like they have been for the last week or so, Culter Wetland will be OK for shorebirds in a few weeks. It would help if some of the water in the canals was dropped a bit, but I'm sure the SFWMD has their reasons.
I'm ready for a "Ruff" or something equal to that at Cutler
