I have spent the last several days watching from my backyard a pair of Great-crested Flycatchers bring insects to their young. I can also hear and see the family of 3 Cooper's Hawks fly in and out; to and from my neighbors' oak trees. Yesterday, I heard a Spot-breasted Oriole sing and saw Purple Martins fly over my roof. I'm glad I don't have to venture too far from home to observe birds in this intolerable heat.
