Last year while out working near the Big Cypress we ran into this awesome mammal. After reading Alex Harper's post last week it made us think of the one we observed last year. We were working in WCA 3 along the Big Cypress, on our way back to the boat ramp we saw this guy. We got awesome views and were surprised to see it where it was. The squirrel was in a tree island not far from dry land but it must have swam over to the island. The only other possibility is that it could have been there since dry season where it may have been able to make it to the island without swimming there. To our knowledge this species is rarely photographed and we feel lucky to have had the opportunity to observe and photograph this awesome mammal! Also that day we witnessed the biggest congregation of Waders we have ever seen, it was absolutely amazing!

Nature is Awesome!
