Toe, Trey, Larry, Philip, Christine, Mariel and I searched for the Dove but the bird was a no show. We birded several streets around the area and saw lots and lots of doves but no Zenaida Dove. After three hours of looking we decided to head out, we did have a few birds while there that keep us interested. Black-whiskered Vireo, White-crowned Pigeon, Magnificent Frigatebirds and one unidentified Cuckoo. Mosquitoes were not too bad for the most part, probably because we got sprayed by the heli early in the morning. It was starting to heat up and birds were starting to hide from the sun, maybe the bird will be seen in the afternoon after it cools down a bit. We had started the morning in good fashion with a perched Red-tailed Hawk and a Great-horned Owl to keep us busy on Card Sound road. No Yellows were seen or heard while driving, we did have four Nighthawks that were probably Common Nighthawks. We did not hear the birds and could not rule out Antillean which would have been awesome. We hopefully some other birders will see the bird so we can go back to look for it, otherwise it will be another one of those one-day wonders. After chasing several one-day wonders down in Key Largo we figure the next Yellow-green Vireo, Zenaida Dove or MacGillivray Warbler will be our repayment for always chasing Key Largo birds.

Nice to see all of you down there, enjoy your weekend and good birding.

Nature is Awesome
