You are correct, Alex. Dee Fitzgerald photographed the squirrel in January of that year and records of the ENP show that it was the first time photographed in that area (though often spotted). The picture is on display at the office of Sonny Bass in the Research Center.

It was a remarkable "capture" and the animal just stood there looking at Dee for several minutes. Right place, right time, right equipment.
