Today at 2:30 I saw a Red-necked Phalarope at Eco Pond in Flamingo, Everglades National Park. It was swimming on the surface of the pond, occasionally permorming the legendary phalarope spin: red neck, white throat, slaty crown, pale rufous stripes on back.
Eco Pond almost dried up this spring, but recent rainfall is quickly pumping in more water. In addition to the phalarope there were several species of common shorebirds present. White-crowned Pigeons are around as well.
Lawn in front of Flamingo Visitor Center hosted at least two male Shiny Cowbirds.
