Bill,
Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner, but I was in Pittsburgh - which I believe is your families hometown - on business last week and then chased an interesting Sand-Plover in Jacksonville. Pittsburgh is a great city with great people, great ballparks, great food and of course great beer. Saw the Pirates beat the Cardinals.
As far as parrots go, 50 Truxton Drive in Miami Springs (the house is vacant at the present time) has parakeets all day, including, Mitred, Red-masked, White-eyed, Green, Red-fronted and Crimson-fronted. Look in the terra cotta scuppers for a pair of Green Parakeets that appear to be nesting there. Late afternnon is best.
The area around the Nursing Home has a flock of Yellow-chevroned Parakeets as well as nesting Monk Parakeets. Orange-winged, Red-crowned and Yellow-crowned Parrots can be found by driving the area of the Nursing Home with your windows down. Call me when yor in the area and I'll take you around my local haunts. May cost you a couple of Yuenglings at Woody's Tavern. Life is good......... with good birds, beer and baseball, even with a bad case of sleep deprivation!.
