The one and only Paul Bithorn returned my call about chasing the bird last night and said he was ready to chase the Greater Sand Plover. I made the arrangements and met him at 4am and we headed to Jacksonville.

We made good time and when we arrived John Hintermeister said here he is, take a look. This was one of the easiest chased birds I have experienced. What a great find! What a beautiful bird! If you have the opportunity to go see this remarkable find, don t talk yourself out of it. Just GO!

There were plenty of other shorebirds and terns to look through as well. It was well worth the long trip up and back. As always Paul kept things interesting and fun. I got a few personal record shots of the bird, but Carl Edwards and other got some really great shots of the plover.

Can't wait for the next uber bird.

Here is a list of a few of the bird we saw in and around the lagoon.

GREATER SAND PLOVER
WHIMBREL
PURPLE SANDPIPER
Red Knot
Dunlin
Sanderling
Semipalmated Sandpiper
Semipalmated Plover
Wilson's Plover
Piping Plover
Short-billed Dowitcher
Black Skimmer
Common Tern
Royal Tern
Sandwich Tern
Gull-billed Tern
Laughing Gull
Ring-billed Gull
Lesser Black-back Gull

Oh yeah there were a lot of birders you would recognize who all had the same great big smile on their face.

If I missed or misspelled something, forgive me. I going on 2 hours sleep....
