Today was a productive day for birding. Tommorow I'm going to Orientation for high school. I birded my yard, neighborhood, and Matheson Hammock. Around my neighborhood I saw a female Redstart, and two gnatcatchers. In the afternoon I went to Matheson Hammock and got some good birds. Right when I enter the hammock at the end of the park I start pishing and first came a gnatcatcher, then after him/her came a prairie warbler. So far not bad with the birds I've seen. But then in back of the prairie came a Black-whisckered Vireo. This is the first time I see one of those birds. All the time I come here I only hear the bird. It was about 9 feet away from me. I was about to take a photo of it, and then it dissapeared. I did take a photo of a Little Blue Heron. Some other birds I saw were Double-crested cormorant, White Ibis, Snowy Egret. Later on I came across a sandpiper. The sandpiper I saw was a Spotted sandpiper. It was easily identified by its spots on the breast.
I also saw a movement of swallows. I saw a barn swallow(lifer), chimney swift, cliff swallow(lifer), bank swallow. Good birding today!
