Is it possible to see warblers in South Florida during the "doldrums", that is, the period between spring and fall migration? Of course it is. Just not in city parks.

On Loop Road in Big Cypress National Preserve, you can find Prothonotary Warblers and Northern Parulas in cypress swamp, Pine Warblers in pinelands and Common Yellowthroats in sawgrass marsh. Prairie Warblers and the Cuban race of Yellow Warbler breed in mangrove swamp; good places to find these warblers include the Flamingo area of Everglades National Park and around the Card Sound Bridge that connects Key Largo to the mainland.

If you want to see the other warblers that breed in Florida, such as Yellow-throated, Swainson's, Louisiana Waterthrush, Kentucky, Hooded and Yellow-breasted Chat, you have to visit the northern part of the state.
