It became apparent to me that many more people need Swainson's Warbler than I previously knew. In FTL during this narrow migration window there are three good spots:
1. Evergreen Cemetery: Check first the south end where there are the most fallen tress and upturned roots and litter.
2. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park: first parking area to the left behind the pavillions and picnic area. there is a swamp and mangroves. Also try the nature trails.
3. Westin hotel complex, Cypress creek road off I-95. Check the "varsia" swamp to the east end of the complex and around the lagoon.

This is a secretive warbler, feeds on the ground. If you see Ovenbird and/or waterthrushes then look for Swainsons.

For historical record Swainson clearly never saw one ,nor did he ever see a Swainson"s Thrush. He was a renouned naturalist to travel the world his expertise was in invertabrates. He is best known as a benefactor to JJ Audubon and help him get rich selling his products. It is a shame great birds are named after a Wall street type benefactor and not a birder. Is there a Goldman/Saxs Vireo somewhere????
