As Warner Wolve said "lets go to the videotape" reference Dunn/ Garret page 140 .. a Kirkland has incomplete tip of black on undertail coverts, the pictures showed a complete black tip. Hense this is an aberrant Magnolia. This was not the same bird that was at Evergreen earlier this month and in the Winter. So much for my years of experience with warblers. This bird also reacted violents to a Kirkland tape which allowed us to get the pics. Most apparently this was a first year molt female with an incomplete eyering and lighter(much lighter steaking the wingbar were not at all bold. The tail appeared not to pump but flicked often. This was a painful call. I regret calling everyone in for what was a major let down but the tail being solid blak on tip rules out that Kirklands in Florida. Otherwise evergreen was loaded with action today. a Bluewing was feeding all day and singing with our masgarade bird. Another coming over to share my crow dinner!!!!
