A friend of mine from California and I were doing some mid-week birding down at ENP on Wednesday 5/9 and we saw a male Shiny cowbird in a flock of a dozen or so Brown-headed cowbirds feeding in the median of the road at Flamingo. We also were impressed by the numbers of Bobolinks around- we saw hundreds! There were individuals and small flocks feeding in the mowed grass along Main Park Road for pretty much the whole length, and we saw many larger flocks of 30-60 birds each flying over the prairies. They are such beautiful birds; it is a joy to have them be dirt common for a couple of days!

Cheers,
Michelle
