I went this afternoon to look for a Solitary Sandpiper that Trey had seen earlier, but instead got a Gull-billed Tern standing in a small grassy patch out in the middle of the water. There were a good number of Lesser Yellowlegs, Black-necked Stilts, and 3-4 Stilt Sandpipers in the area as well. While Gull-billed Tern is fairly regular in the Flamingo area, and is seen in decent numbers in the Palm Beach sod farms in Fall, this is a species that can be pretty difficult in Dade County.
