Hi. I used to work in the park as a naturalist for a non-profit park partner. I was president of the local bird club for a couple years and nominated the TN side of the park as an IBA.
Winter Wrens are easy to get during breeding season, when they sing - mostly at high elevations.
A very special bird there is the Northern Saw-whet Owl, which breeds there. You can get them along clingman's Dome Road at night. But if you are willing to camp along the AT, you're more likely to be successful.
