You are blessed to have a flicker nesting in your yard.
Here in Pinellas County (St. Pete/Clearwater/Tarpon Springs)flickers are a difficult species to find anymore. Case in point: The N.Pinellas CBC once boasted "86" reported during the 1986 CBC. This past year the number was "one". St. Pete CBC's all-time high was "77" in 1954, but there have been just 7 and 8 reported the past two years. Very sad.
