Your "some kind of moth" appears to be Napheloleuca floridata MONA (Moths of America North of Mexico) #6986 or it could also be the very similar looking Napheloleuca politia (MONA #6985). I can't tell for sure. I've taken the liberty of sending your photo to someone I know who is an expert on the Geometridae (the family this moth belongs to) and I'll let you know what he has to say. Of course, it could be something different entirely! Here's a link to photos of these two species. They are located in the 7th & 8th rows from the bottom of the page after the link opens.
