Lat March I had a flock of 5 Red-breasted Mergansers that patrolled the lake margin. They lined up diagonally, with the lead bird farthest out from the shore. This appeared to congregate the fish, and they closed in on them to feed. They did this for about a week, and were followed by Little Blues, Tricoloreds and Snowy Egrets.
