This young Cooper's Hawk came to visit the feeders yesterday. He would sit on the fence looking into the bush below. The bush below was full of House Sparrows. He would drop to the ground and then run into the bush. He did this several times, each time scaring out House Sparrows. He was not successful in getting one despite many attempts. I have seen an adult do the same thing and it was successful in catching a House Sparrow. I have seen them do this many times. It is pretty funny seeing a bird of prey run fast on the ground like a Road Runner!
