Gary and I were at the Annex this morning and then ENP. Concerning Tricia's post about Swallow-tailed Kites, we saw 2 of them above the road past Research Rd., the one to Hidden Lake and the mound.

The following were seen at the annex:
Painted Buntings - 2 females
Common Yellowthroat Warbler
Magnolia Warbler
Palm Warbler
Northern Parula Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
House Wren
Brown Thrasher
Eastern Phoebe
White-eyed Vireo
Blue-headed Vireo
Bell's Vireo
Great-crested Flycatcher
Gray Catbird
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
Norther Harrier- female
Cardinal
Bluejay
Plus many Turkey and Black Vultures!

Other highlights of the day were Yellow-throated Warbler and Worm-eating Warbler in Gumbo Limbo Trail.

At Anhinga Trail, there were at least 15 adult Black-crowned Night Herons at various spots around the trail, 1 Purple Gallinule, a very cooperative Prairie Warbler, and many very large gators lolling in the mud at the end of the boardwalk!

At Long Pine Key, we saw Bluebirds, Downy Woodpeckers, many Yellow-rumped Warblers and Pine Warblers, plus 1 Towhee and 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.

One of the days best moments was at Mahoganny Hammock - 2 baby Barred owls were perched in branches right over the trail! Awesome!

The usual waders were seen through the day, plus Eco Pond had many Black-necked Stilt, Yellowlegs, Killdeer and sandpipers(possibly Least). A scope would have been really handy here!
Another very enjoyable day in the Everglades!
