This name came from John Ogden who should know.
They in south Florida nest at different times(November to April) than the Florida Race( which
is in Central Florida ) which nests from January to June. What the other differences are I did not ask.
There is also a resident, non-migratory, "race"
of the American Kestrel in Florida. It is no longer found in Miami-Dade County since it was a pineland nester.
