I got back from a trip to Tampa today, and got some good birds. Unfortunataly no trip to St. Petersburg. I had some good birds such as Cooper's Hawk, 3 Bald Eagle, Mottled Duck, Glossy Ibis, Wood Stork, Reddish Egret, Caspian Tern, Limpkin, Eastern Towhee, and many others. I had over 40 birds, and I had a new subspecies: Florida race Towhee. I stayed in a Holiday Inn in Punta Gorda for the night with my parents. Of course this town is home to the famous Babcock Webb WMA. I only birded for about 30 minutes, though.
I heard Bachman's Sparrow, saw Meadowlark, saw Meadowlarks, and Limpkin too. I took OilWell trail for the R.C. Woodpeckers, but to no luck. In that area I do not have B.H. Nuthatch, Summer Tanager, R.C. Woodpecker and Bachman's Sparrow. Better luck next time.
