: : There was an unusual exotic at Hollywood North Beach Park this monday. It was the approximate size and shape of a Common Myna but more colorful. It's belly was a reddish color and the breast and upperparts were an irridecent bluish green, these colors were seperated on the upper belly by a narrow pale band. Seen flying from below it had light colored areas on the undersides of the bases of it's wings and tail and it kept repeating a three note call. I was without binoculars and the light angle was les than ideal so I couldn't get any more detail, any ideas?
: Sounds just like a Superb glossy Starling (spreo superbus). The bird is common in east Africa and familiar around settled areas. You never know what you'll see next!
Thank for the help, a quck google search using the common and latin names got me to a photo that matched what I saw.
