Ken,
With all due respect, if you had not advertised this nest at every possible opportunity you wouldn't have to be asking for volunteers right now. Bald Eagle aren't a fairground attraction.
I've seen evidence of the amount of disturbance (cars and people) this advertising has caused. My only hope is that the parents don't abandon the nest because of this disturbance.
I'm very much in favor of education regarding Florida's wildlife. The education here should be leave the Eagle's alone so they can do what they need to do. I don't see how advertising the nest repeatedly so that masses of people turn up to see it is beneficial in any way - quite the opposite.
I know you are excited about Bald Eagle nesting in Pembroke Pines. I just hope they raise the chick and Eagles return to the nest in the future. However, advertising the nest for whatever reason is asking for trouble because people will always try to get a closer look and I fear volunteers will be unable to keep the mass of people far enough away. I see it is becoming a big problem already.
Next time someone discovers such a find I hope they keep it quiet.
Rich.
