I was perusing the Eagle Optics website tonight and saw that they're having a "Birder's Stimulus Package" by offering new Vector Stokes DLS 8x42 binoculars on an only-while-supplies-last sale for $499.99 with free shipping and no tax. MSRP is $879, for a savings of $379 off retail. The optics are superior, they weigh 23 ounces, and they focus under 5' away (they advertise them at 5.1' but reviewers say they focus at 4.7').

I'll let you know how I like mine when they arrive!!! Wooo hoooo!!!
