Just a day and a half drive from here (at the speed limit; Paul, Toe you could make it a lot faster) is a spectacle that is really worth the trip. It's in eastern North Carolina at the Pocosin Lakes NWR, specifically Lake Pungo. 60,000 Snow Geese and 10,000 Tundra Swans in early December in a flight that is not easily forgotten. In a weekend there I saw only one van of local birders. The place is ignored, and I can't figure out why. Check out the video, and you will wonder, too. Here's a link.
