Wil Domke just sent me photos he took today of the Black-headed and Bonaparte's Gulls at Cutler Wetlands. Just a word of caution if anyone isn't familiar with these two species (as if I was), they look very similar at distance. They both have a very pale mantle (the gray on the back), very white head and neck, small bills, and an ear spot. But, the Bonaparte's will be significantly smaller than the rest of the gulls and has a black bill. The Black-headed will be almost the same size as a Laughing Gull, and has a deep red bill. If anyone gets a photo of the two together, you get a free libation. Take your pick, Bells Expedition Stout, or Stone India Pale Ale. Sorry, the Ommegang Three Philosophers is mine!
