Yesterday afternoon we headed over to Cutler Wetlands hoping to see the Black-headed Gull that had been seen earlier by Toe & Trey. When we got there Robin, Mickey, John K and John were hard at work looking for the gull. After scoping the gulls for forty minutes or so we decided to leave and take a birder to the dump marsh, he had been having trouble finding the T. Kingbird. We then headed over to Black Point to take a peek around and that is when we received a call from Troy and Roxanne "if you guys want to see the Black-headed Gull you better get over to Cutler Wetlands!" Next thing we know we are celebrating awesome views of a beautiful life bird. Thanks to John Kellam who relocated the bird, Troy & Roxanne for the call and Paul for originally finding this gem of a bird. A celebratory libation was held at the hacienda where we raised a glass of North Coast Old Stock Ale which rates at 12.5% on the Richter scale. Old Stock Ale is produced in a small quantity each year and remains available from release date until their stock is depleted. Smooth and creamy, ripe fruit melds with the alcohol to produce a rum raisin like flavor. Sweet caramel and toasted grains run throughout, with lots of malt it s definitely a beer to be served proudly.
An amazing bird to have right here in our own backyard! Congrats to everyone who has been lucky enough to see this bird.
