Yesterday afternoon we went over to the dump again to look for the Crested Caracara and got a glimpse of the bird as it was flushed by a city worker that was walking along the top of the mound. Later Toe showed up and we looked for a while again but no Caracara, about ten minutes or so after Toe took off we got lucky and the bird flew off over the mound with some other TV. Awesome county bird! Other than that there were no Gulls at Cutler Wetlands, they could be seen streaming overhead all afternoon heading out to the bay. A Northern Waterthrush was a nice surprise, Savannah Sparrows were present and a Sacred Ibis was walking around by the dump as well.
The afternoon was nice and cool but the dump smelled pretty bad, hope the winds are in our favor next time.
Nature is Awesome
