I thought I would share my problem with my friends in Florida. Many of you are aware,I have another home in the rural hills of Massachusetts. My partner Jim is blessed or cursed with maintain it and our feeders. This winter between our house and a friend a few blocks away we host over 250 Pine Siskins and 100 Goldfinches. Our yard has over 15 thistle bags or tube feeders, It takes between 15-20 lbs of thistle seed per week to keep these filled. Jim will be coming to Florida this week, within a few days our feeder will be empty. We have told our friend,be prepared for the whole flock. As the winter progresses we expect Redpolls to come in as they are in neighboring towns. If God forbid we get Evening Grosbeaks, I will be passing a tin cup for seed dontions at our field trips.
