The Elegant Tern was still at Fort DeSoto on Tuesday May 1st. It was fishing just south of the Gulf Pier at 4:30PM. It also has been seen on the beach in the late afternoon with Sandwich Terns, and allegedly tried to mate with a SATE. Also seen Tuesday: Worm-Eating Warbler at the Ranger residence at Bay Pier; and the Heerman's gull (very tame) at East Beach all day.
On Tuesday April 24 I saw 12 Greater Flamingos at Snake Bight at 9AM (low tide). 3 were white immature plumage. The mosquitoes on the trail are voracious and numerous. Good birding to all.
