There were many very uncooperative birds at the annex this morning. The best being a Bell's Vireo at the pole just before the gate to the fish farm. The Bell's only gave me a brief look. It didn't even respond to a recording.
At the speed bump I found a Least Flycatcher and a Great Crested Flycatcher. There was also a Brown Crested Flycatcher in the area which I heard but did not see.
I Found several Painted and Indigo Buntings as well. Whatever warblers were in the area kept themselves hidden pretty well. I only saw a couple of Common Yellow-throat. But there were many more warblers in the undergrowth, just not showing themselves.
At Lucky Hammock I saw several Northern Harrier and several Savannah Sparrows.
On Research Rd. I found some Bluebirds off in the distance in the pineland area. I didn't see nuthatches...
After the brief morning down south I headed to work but stopped to see the Scissor-tailed Flycatchers(5) at 217th and 312th...
Toe called me on his way home from work and said we should go look through the gulls near Cutler Wetland to look for something good. After looking through 2000 of the 3000 gulls I found 2 Franklins in the mix. Then Toe found one in another part of the raft. I found another two Franklins when I went back through the first 2000 gulls. What a bummer.... We were hoping for a Bonaparte s Gull also.
