This morning I met with John Hutchinson and 2 other birders at the Black Throated Gray Spot. The bird was spotted by us around 10:15 am. We had good looks at it for about 5 minutes. Also seen were a Cooper's Hawk circling the area.
We then went to another location nearby (not sure exaclty) and got crippling looks at a Summer Tanager, as well as Painted Bunting, Catbird, with a House Wren (heard only). The Tanager was all yellow with no red visible.
We concluded our day at Fern Forest looking for the Nashville Warbler. While we failed to find it, we did have great looks at Praire, Orange Crowned, Yellow Throated, Black Throated Green, Yellow Rumped, and Palm Warblers, as well as Blue Headed and Yellow throated Vireos. A Broad Winged Hawk was also seen.
The Black Throated Gray Warbler goes on my Life List, Florida List, and my "Birds I called out sick from work to go see" list, which is getting quite lengthy.
