During the Everglades Birding Festival, a Canada Goose (not a Cackling Goose) was seen at the borrow pit lake on Snake/Government Road between mile 6 & 7 in the mud flats at the back of the lake behind the tree island. In the farm fields on the south side, closer to the village were 30 plus Wild Turkeys and a Crested Caracara.
At Eco Pond, the Barn Owl continues to make a nightly sundown spectacle in the fields between the campground shack and Eco Pond.
Painted Buntings were easily found at the Okeeheelee feeder.
S.T.A. 5 had 200-300 Roseate Spoonbills, the most I had ever seen in the drained cell to the west. A Peregrine Falcon was observed feeding on a shorebird on pole # 2. The Canvasback and Eurasian Widgeon still continue.
A total of 156 species were found over the weekend.
