Last night my girlfriend and I were enjoying the exceptionally bright full moon at the beach. In the reflection of the moon I could see a small shorebird moving up and down the surf. My guess would be a Sanderling (by size and shape). I could not get a good look to be sure. Does anyone know if nocturnal foraging is common among many shorebird species?
