Merritt Island NWR still has large numbers of ducks along the wildlife drive, mostly at stops 7 and 8. Mostly Pintail, with good numbers of American Wigeon (I didn't see any Eurasian), and lesser numbers of Blue-winged Teal, Shoveller and a couple Hooded Mergansers. The birds tend to remain pretty close to the roadway, making for good photo-ops, and when an eagle flies by there can be 1000 birds in the air at once. An adult Ross' Goose was reported by several birders, probably the same one all season, once again at stop 8. Although there was a low afternoon tide and huge mudflats, very few shorebirds were about.
