: The Cooper's Hawk nest was a A+, and the teen hawk is flying on his own. Morningside's 2nd and 3rd White-winged Doves were found by me, which was great, as I think they are breeding. A late Black-throated Blue was mysteriously seen singing with some Prairie Warbler in a small tree. The Orange-winged Parrot nest tree was torn down, sadly enough. Three Spot-breasted Orioles, too. Despite the rivalry of the starlings, our woodpeckers managed to add a third Red-belly into the world. I also found the swift breeding site, in a chimney in a historic mansion.
Dear Alex:
My son (17 yrs old, with divorced parents)and I just moved to Morningside, very near the park. We have not been involved in birding before, but we did have a pair of parakeets years ago, and we like birds. Even though we've been here only a few weeks, already we have seen cardinals, blue jays, blue birds, and an oriol in our front and back yards. We were so happy to see these birds, that we bought some bird feeders and feed, and put them up, hoping to see more birds. We know very little about wild birds, but would like to learn more, especially about birds in Morningside. What do you suggest? You seem to know so much about birds in Morningside. How can we get in touch with you, and maybe meet with you to look at birds in the park? Thanks.
