We leave soon for a trip to Florida, we will spend 10 days between Orlando and Key West. I have been monioring the BirdBoard, and have been sad to see negative reports on a couple of target species; Greater Flamingo at Snake Bight Trail, and Smooth-billed Ani south of Ft. Lauderdale Airport. I will try for them anyway, but any advice on these two would be welcome. How are the mosquitoes at Snake Bight in January?
In addition, the ABA guide says that Blue-winged Warbler and Worm-eating Warbler can winter in small numbers in the southern part of the state and the Keys; these would both be lifers so any tips on them would also be great.
I do need Short-tailed Hawk and Shiny Cowbird, but I hope to get these with a bit of time and luck.
Thanks all, and looking forward to getting out of water-logged Washington for sunny Florida!
