SANTA ROSA
A probable YELLOW- NOSED ALBATROSS was seen over the Milton airport and Wrights Basin in Santa Rosa County (just a few miles north of I-10) on Wednesday the 2nd (M Wilson). DeLorme p. 27
DUVAL COUNTY
Two LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were seen on Little Bird Island, Nassau Sound on the 3rd. However, this site is only accessible by vessel (P. Leary). DeLorme p. 58; Pranty p. 100
A PARASITIC JAEGER was seen on Sunday 29th at Huguenot Park in Jacksonville. The bird appeared to be sick but was able to fly. The bird was seen both on the beach and in the lagoon area and reportedly had been robbing nests in the gull colony on the north end. Also a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was present at the jetties. To get to Huguenot take Hecksher Dr (A1A) east to the Atlantic Ocean (B. Richter). On Monday the Jaeger was seen several times on the north beach of Huguenot Park (A. Turner). PINELLAS COUNTY
MANGROVE CUCKOOS are still present along the Bay Boardwalk of Weedon Island (R. Smith & all). DeLorme p. 90/91; Pranty p. 126
“The” HEERMANN’S GULL was seen several times this week along East Beach at Ft. DeSoto Park (C. Newton & all). DeLorme p. 90; Pranty p. 126
BROWARD COUNTY
At the Fort Lauderdale airport on Sunday morning 29th, five SMOOTH-BILLED ANIS were easily spotted on the fence along the south side of the airport, right near the park (D. & S. Humeston, & all). DeLorme p. 115; Pranty p. 216
EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK
On Saturday a WHITE-TAILED KITE was seen at the very end of Research Road and a ROSEATE TERN in full breeding plumage was seen on the sandbar at Flamingo (D. Powell & all). DeLorme p. 121/122; Pranty p. 234
MONROE COUNTY
An ANTILLEAN NIGHTHAWK was seen at Marathon airport on Saturday evening around 7:15pm while the sun was still up (D. Powell & all). DeLorme p. 125; Pranty p. 252
