Terrific shot! A friend of mine (a man with more guts than brains) pulled a big one off of a doe he was just about to dispatch, so they are pretty serious predators.
I've seen panthers in the daytime, sure. Turkey hunters are not uncommonly stalked by them when they are camo'd up and calling.
