A rising tide seems to be the best but generally, the birding is "usually" good at Tigertail Beach no matter what the tide. In winter, there's only a 1-2 foot or so difference between low and high tide at Tigertail. In order to see some of the shorebirds, especially the Snowy Plovers, you really need to wade across the lagoon to get to the beach side i.e. Gulf. Be prepared to walk a couple of miles to get all the way to the end of the spit. . . .
